Responsibilities & Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor of Science Degree (or equivalent education) in electrical engineering from a four -year accredited college or university.
- Experience: 4+ years of experience required. FE (EIT) certificate preferred.
- Ability to work independently
- Interacts with other disciplines, project support groups, subcontractors, vendors and client representatives as appropriate on an assigned project.
- Performs electrical engineering calculations, analyses, and prepares specifications.
- Responsible for initiating and developing electrical engineering drawings through completion for assigned projects in conformance with the requirements, applicable codes, and design criteria established by the project’s discipline engineer and client standards.
- Advises the Supervising Discipline Engineer about status of assignment(s) with respect to schedule, budgets, delays and adverse problems.
- Ensures quality, quantity and completeness of the assigned electrical engineering tasks.
- Plans and schedules electrical engineering efforts associated with assigned project.
- Maintains timely and accurate oral and written technical reports regarding assigned electrical engineering activities.
- Keeps proper electrical engineering files and records.
- Complies with Company’s safety awareness program, office and/or field safety policies.
- Develops an understanding of the role of each functional area within the company.
- Expresses ideas clearly and listens effectively to the ideas of others.
- Supports alignment of customer and company objectives.
- Under general direction, completes electrical engineering assignments of moderate complexity.
- Has an advanced level of understanding of the electrical discipline.
- Understands and assists with the preparation of an electrical engineering project scope.
- Understands codes, permits and company cornerstone applications.
- Versed with the process of preparing and checking of calculations within electrical discipline.
- Can read and understand construction drawings.
- Versed in the collection and/or evaluation of data and information regarding technical and economic factors including physical, maintenance, operational, regulatory, constructability, and/or schedule factors relating to a specific subject within the electrical discipline.
- Has a basic understanding of external factors that impact specific engineering problems.
- Understands and reviews interdisciplinary vendor documents.
- Assists with the development of manpower, man-hour, and labor cost requirements for a project and can monitor them to aid in evaluating budget limitations.
- Takes the lead on estimating tasks and performs material take-offs for electrical discipline.
- Understands the planning and scheduling of engineering tasks within electrical discipline.
- Understands the project change control process and can identify a potential change.
- Has an advanced level of knowledge of electrical equipment and material lists.
- Can integrate all project functional requirements into a complete project plan.
- Provides technical guidance to less experienced engineering staff.
- Builds productive relationships with organizations in and external to Engineering.
