Mechanical Equipment Design Engineer III

Responsibilities & Qualifications:

  • Mechanical engineer will perform detailed design and analysis of custom equipment, individually and as part of design team, including leading small 2-5 man teams.
  • Typical equipment includes containment systems, material handling equipment, process piping & equipment, pressure vessels, and high vacuum equipment.Lead teams of multi-disciplinary engineers and designers managing scope, schedule, budget and staff.
  • Follow regimented quality assurance / quality control procedures.
  • Detailed design activities include preparation of drawing packages, equipment datasheets, fabrication specifications, procurement specifications, engineering studies, test plans, and detailed equipment sizing & qualification calculations.
  • Responsibilities include planning, conducting and coordinating detailed phases of design work; presenting design reviews to clients; preparing proposals and cost estimates; managing design task's budget and schedule; and providing shop support during fabrication and testing.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years experience in related field.
  • Must be familiar with 3D design software (Pro/E, SolidWorks, Siemens NX preferred), 2D software (AutoCAD or equal) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated capability in the design of custom equipment and/or containment systems, development of design documentation including fabrication drawings, engineering analyses, strengths of materials calculations, or specifications and basic knowledge in the selection of materials.
  • Familiarity with MS Project or Primavera Sur-Trak; MathCAD; MS Access a plus.
  • Experience in the NRC, DOE and DOD market segments a plus.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • PE license highly desirable.
  • Candidate will be expected to obtain a PE license in North Carolina and Tennessee.
  • Active or recently inactive security clearance required.
  • Bachelor of Sciences.
