Responsibilities & Qualifications:
- Assists with developing and managing work scope, schedule and budgets, as well as with staff planning and reviews.
- Assigns work to other designers and checks work for their assignments.
- Creates and directs small design teams to produce 3D models, drawings and fabrication packages of custom equipment, with direction from the project engineer.
- Typical equipment includes containment systems, material handling equipment, process piping & equipment, vacuum systems, pressure vessels and waste handling systems.
- Establish and promote discipline guidelines and policies for the mechanical equipment design group.
- Establish 3D modeling project criteria and ensure deliverables are fully compatible with client's electronic media requirements.
- Develop and promote regimented quality assurance / quality control procedures.
- Assist project managers in tracking task progress (schedule and cost), scope (change management), design issues and staffing requirements.
- Promote professional development amongst the team members.
- Minimum of fifteen (15) years experience in related field.
- Must demonstrate expert proficiency with Pro/E Wildfire and Intralink and have a working knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with other 3D systems (SolidWorks, Siemens NX [highly desirable] or equal), 2D software and Microsoft Office Suite a plus.
- Must demonstrate past experience leading small, interdisciplinary groups of designers on multi-discipline projects for the DOE, DoD or NRC.
- Demonstrated capability in the design of custom equipment and/or containment systems, development of design documentation including fabrication drawings, equipment datasheets and design record documents.
- Familiarity with NQA-1 quality assurance programs required.
- Active or recently inactive security clearance required.
- PMP certification or related management studies desirable.
