Responsibilities & Qualifications:

• Principal Mechanical Engineer will serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for various aspects of custom equipment design in the equipment design group.

• Typical equipment includes containment systems (gloveboxes, hot cells, cleanrooms), material handling equipment, small scale process piping & equipment, and pressure / vacuum vessels.

• Degreed professional will work independently as the SME for the office and provide guidance and technical direction on complex projects and proposals.

• Establish and promote discipline guidelines and policies for the mechanical equipment group.

• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced personnel in base engineering discipline.

• Work with program managers, other SME and clients to evaluate design options, document decision making process, and define technical path forward to solving complex critical design problems.

• Minimum of fifteen (15) years experience in Department of Energy (DOE) projects or in related field, with ten (10) years experience related to specific area of expertise.

• Familiarity with NQA-1-2000 quality assurance programs. * Extensive progressive experience with subject matter required (with some hands-on experience desired).

• Familiarity with 3D design software (Siemens NX preferred) desired.

• Experience with supplier support, factory testing and field startup desirable.US Citizenship required.

• PE license required. Candidate will be expected to obtain a PE license in North Carolina & Tennessee.

• Post graduate work in field desirable.

• Active or recently inactive security clearance required.
